Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken - San Antonio: A Taste of Southern Comfort

Gus' was some gooood fried chicken! It has a slight kick to it. Nice and crispy while juicy. Prices are decent and plates come with bakes beans, Cole slaw, and white bread (50 cent upgrade to other sides). Also, the menu is super simple. Great for indecisive people like me! The service was great! Quick and friendly. The ambiance was casual and cozy. Fun for a night with family and friends, but I wouldn't come here for romance or a nice date night.

This was a nice surprise. Fast, affordable, and tasty fried chicken. The okra and greens were good, too. Mac and cheese just okay. Bread was very sad. I'd order again for the chicken, and the hot sauce is great.

Omg I can't rave enough about this food!!! It was so delicious!!!! My mom doesn't usually eat all her food when we go out but this time she ate it ALL!! The chicken had a kick to it but not enough that my one year old daughter couldn't eat it. My daughter LOVED the Mac and cheese and she is usually picky about her Mac and cheese. The fried pickles were so yummy!! The food came out HOT and just tasted so fresh!! Great service!! Our server was so nice and very helpful. The menu is pretty small and simple which I really liked. Clean place and plenty of seating. I can't wait to go back!! Highly recommend!!

Always great food and always great service! Diedra is the best at taking care of her customers! And the manager Mark makes the time to come by and speak to everyone and ask how your meal and service was. Makes you feel welcome. Best chicken in town!

The restaurant is in a really cool location. I don't find myself downtown a lot but seeing all the people riding their bikes around and walking is just a fun environment. I got the fried chicken breast, french fries, and macaroni and cheese, it was all really hot and delicious. The chicken breast was really juicy, but had a very crispy skin on it. It was all flavored really nicely as well. The gentleman that was waiting on us gave us an extra fry because we finished ours so quickly which was really nice of him.

Gus's is truly the best fried chicken you can get in sa. My bf loves to come here as well i'm pretty sure he could eat it everyday and never get tired of it. Their chicken has a bit of a kick but nothing anyone can't handle. Really great flavor. The sides here are also all really good and everything is homemade. Still have yet to try their desserts but I would like to one day. I like their mac and cheese and baked beans or coleslaw. Ambiance is super chill, the south town location is nice and everyone there has always been really kind and welcoming!

Someone opened up the heavenly gates and welcomed Gus's chicken to San Antonio and it. Did. Not. Disappoint! Cute little spot in Southtown. Parking is a bit of a nightmare but there is a paid lot just off to the left of the entrance if you can't find free parking. The restaurant will validate for guests up to 90 mins per our waitress. I'm not into super hot foods but loved the southern flavor. We had the fried green tomatoes, three piece dark meat meal with Mac n cheese, baked beans and potato salad as our sides. The homemade chicken was juicy and still flaming hot coming from the kitchen. Do yourself a favor and eat here. You won't regret it!
